"Looking back, it is as though we were all sitting in a waiting room at an airport, preparing to board a domestic flight, and the women's movement came along and offered us a ticket to a foreign country.  All we had to do was to pass a test to show that we were smart enough to learn the language...It was a little scary, because we didn't know people there but previously women who wanted to go had to fight for a place on the airplane.  The women's movement had struggled to obtain the tickets and if we turned them down, younger women might not be offered the same opportunity.  We took the tickets."
